Looking in to the Citadel catalogue this champion really has a long name: Sword and Bestial Face, Tail and Mane of Hair. It lists all the attributes he has. Otherwise he is just a normal guy.
I’ll have to take a look into my old Realms of Chaos book, but I think the big mutation table there had some entries like “Mane of Hair”. I’m curious what the game effects of those hairs were.
Paintingwise at first I was not sure what to do with his hair. Of course he is Khorne, so red was the obvious answer. I gave it a go, just to test it, maybe change it later. But I really liked how it turned out.
In the end he became one of my favorite models of the batch. The expression on his face and the simple colour scheme really look good on him.
